Update Regarding Operation Sparkplug
I believe that we have brought in 4 new members.  We still have a few that are looking at us too.  We of course would love to win.  The thought of having Jeanne O'Connor come out and coach us would just be incredibly awesome.  But, even if we don't win, my chorus has already been feeling like they are winners.  The 4 new members are all top quality members with the ability to come into the chorus and learn the music as if they have been here all along.  They all have previous chorus experience.  Two of them have been in Barbershop!  One of them, a tenor, has over 25 years of experience with Sweet Adelines under Kim Hulbert.  She was also one of their Tenor section leaders.  And...what is so very cool...she likes our chorus better than the award winning San Diego SAI chorus!  Each of these ladies that has come into our chorus has been top caliper.  My chorus realizes that it is because of their hardwork and musical growth that has allowed us to finally attract and keep the more experienced singers.  This is definetly a win!  My little chorus now has 27 members!!!!!  I am so jazzed.

I am going this morning to sing in a quartet.  My ladies came up with a great idea for getting the word about the Singing Valentines out to the right people.  This morning we are going to the monthly meeting of the Kiwanis Club to sing the two Valentine songs as a "promo" and then hand out our flyer.  They are setting up other "promos" with other groups.  We will also be working with a very popular florist who is going to offer our services as part of a package.  We did this last year and it was great!

Harmony Magic
Central Indiana, US
The year started off with a bang as we celebrated the first anniversary of chartering as Harmony Magic.   Rosario and I (Barb), the newest members at the time were named PR associates and later Spark Plugs and so we were challenged to fill the calendar with sing-outs that would promote our group within the area and enable us to attract some new talent, raise some money and perform our songs.  We were lucky to be able to have many events in our community in north central Indiana.  We sang at Carmelfest (July 4th) and we garnered a new member.  We sang in the pouring rain at the local farmer's market, where some of us took advantage of having breakfast with some very handsome firefighters.  Our modified Change of Heart quartet (Janet, Sara, Susan and Libby) performed brilliantly at the International Festival at the end of September.  In October we had some "fun in just one lifetime" when we sang with CBCC at their show.  We had two guest nights and this has brought us one new member so far and 5 or 6 new prospects (which we are so thrilled about).  On one of the coldest days in December we strolled up and down Zionsville's downtown main thoroughfare caroling to the folks who listened as they rolled down their car windows (well, we raised some money, anyway).  Harmony Magic held its second annual Holiday Cabaret - promoting holiday cheer and raising money through ticket sales, ad sales and leftover chili sales.  This was really a great event for us.  And we closed off 2007 with some sing-outs at some nursing homes in Kokomo and Indy - which brought us merely the joy of sharing our songs with others - need I say more?
