Hello Area 4 Members: 

Thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself to those of you who might not know me.  My name is Betty Gunterman and I am your newly elected Area 4 Director!  I am so pleased to be your “voice” on the International Board for the next two years.  Here is some background information:

• I joined Harmony in 1963 when a good friend in my high school choir told me about the Village Vocal Chords.  One visit was all it took and I was hooked. 
   

•  I have attended every convention since 1963, competed with the VVC and have all 18 championship medals we have won.
   

• I am a four-time Harmony Queen (1964 Scale Blazers, 1974 Esprit de Corps, 1982 Chicago Chord Company, and 1987 Kaleidoscope).  Currently singing in Four Eyes quartet.
   

• I have held several chapter offices, including President, VP and chairman of Costumes and Ways and Means to name a few.
   

• I have been ACC chairman a couple of times – including our upcoming 2012 event.
   

• I also was chairman of ICC in 1980 back when chapters chaired that event.
   

• I am married to Jim and we will celebrate our 40^th anniversary next year.  We have one grown son, Cory.  Our family also includes a dog and 2 cats.
   

• I taught high school Business for 34 years and retired almost 10 years ago.  I also taught college classes for several years at a community college nearby. 

My first goal for Area 4 is communication.  I will try to keep you informed and answer all your questions.  If I don’t know the answer -- I’ll find someone who does.  I also hope to visit each chapter in Area 4, so we can be a cohesive area.  I’m new at this position, so please be patient.  I’m presently looking thru files to become knowledgeable of our past and to hopefully improve our future.

I would like to thank Beth Montgomery for her service as Director these past 6½ years and you can be sure I’ll be using her as a reference for my questions.  Also thanks needs to go to Skip Sutton for her service as our treasurer.  Important jobs – and well done ladies. Soon I will be announcing my officers and looking for some vacancies to fill.  Please consider serving your Area.

So let’s make our new year’s resolution – to build Area 4 to be the best it can be!  I look forward to working with each of you.
